Berkey® Gravity Water Filters are capable of filtering city water and rural water. Because of their gravity based filtration systems they do not require electricity or water pressure, making them ideal for disaster or emergency use as well as travel, camping and other outdoor uses. They are built out of highly polished AISI 304 stainless steel and are among the most durable and practical water filtration systems available.

Berkey filters remove all of the following while maintaining minerals beneficial to your body:
- Chlorine, Chloramines, Pharmaceuticals, and Heavy Metals
- 99.999% of pathogenic bacteria, parasites, cysts, and viruses MS2 and FR Coliphage
- Disease-casuing bacteria such as Cholera, Typhoid, E. Coli, Salmonella, and Fecal Coliform
- Harmful chemicals including pesticides, herbicides, organic solvents, VOC's, radon 222 and trihalomethanes
- Reduces up to 95% of heavy metals such as mercury, aluminium, copper, chromium, and lead
- Reduces odours and bad taste leaving the water smelling and tasting better
- Sediment and silt are also removed leaving water crystal clear
- Arsenic and Flouride can also be removed with the use of Pf-2 filters
The main part of the filtration system are the black Berkey filter elements housed in the upper chamber of the system. Teh amazing thing about the Berkey system is the volume of water they can filter to such high standards. A pair of black Berkey filters will 6000 Gallons or 22000 litres of water. With typical household use, you can expect these filters to last 3-5 years. So depending on the purpose of the filter, you can choose from the various models below as to which is most suitable for your purposes.
